Fires
From house fires to wild fires, uncontrolled fires can be deadly. The Office of Emergency Management encourages residents to plan ahead.
House Fires
In the event of a home fire, every second counts. This is why planning ahead is so important. Experts advise that homeowners install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of a home (including the basement).
Request a Smoke Alarm
If you are a homeowner, you may qualify for free smoke alarms from the Corpus Christi Fire Department. Visit the link below to see if you qualify.
Wild Fires
Wildfires are uncontrolled or unplanned fires that burn vegetation like a forest or grasslands. Wildfires can occur in isolated areas or very close to and within communities, posing threat to people and property.
To report a wildfire, call 911. Reporting wildfires immediately and accurately can impact the response time of emergency services.
Choosing the Right Fire Extinguisher
It's important to understand that with proper training and education, fire extinguishers can save lives and property. Many adults might not know how or when to use fire extinguishers. Fire departments can help with fire extinguisher training and answer questions that community members may have.
