The City’s 4-Tiered Approach to Water Security
Inner Harbor Water Treatment Campus
The cornerstone of our long-term water security is the Inner Harbor Water Treatment Campus project. When operational in 2028, this cutting-edge facility will produce up to 36 million gallons of potable water daily through advanced seawater desalination technology.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) recently granted unanimous approval for the project’s discharge permit, while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has approved construction permits for intake and discharge structures.
This drought-proof solution will convert seawater into fresh drinking water, providing a climate-resilient supply source regardless of rainfall patterns or drought conditions.
