Type A
Also referred to as “Type A – Arena” , this 1/8 cent was originally approved in the 2000 November elections to be used for the construction, operation and capital projects of the current American Bank Center.
Life Span
Creation Date: November 2000
Expiration Date: September 2025
In the 2024 November elections, Corpus Christi residents voted to re-authorize the use of the 1/8 cent sales tax for two purposes:
Purpose #1: 50% of all revenue will be for arterial & collector streets
Purpose #2: 50% of all revenue will be dedicated for the recreational & community facilities within the Sports and Entertainment District
Renewal Beginning Date: October 2025
Renewal Expiration Dater: September 2045
Type A
Also referred to as “Type A – Seawall”, this 1/8 cent was originally approved in the 200 November elections to be used for improvements, operations, and capital projects of the Downtown Seawall.
Life Span
Creation Date: November 2000
Expiration Date: March 2026
In the 2024 November elections, Corpus Christi residents voted to re-authorize the use of the 1/8 cent sales tax for two purposes:
Purpose #1: Continuation of maintenance for the Downtown Seawall
Purpose #2: City-wide flood control and drainage projects
Renewal Beginning Date: April 2026
Renewal Expiration Dater: September 2045
Type B
The Type B Corporation separates funding as follow:
- 50% of all revenue is dedicated for economic development
- $500,000 are dedicated annually for housing projects
- All remaining funds are utilized for streets capital projects
