From routine inspections and repairs to residential rehabilitation projects, we are committed to keeping our roadways in top condition for all users.

Street Closures and Traffic Impacts

  • City Council Awards Construction Contract for Alameda Street Reconstruction

    At today's regularly scheduled City Council meeting, the Council awarded a $15.8 million construction contract to Bay Ltd. for the complete reconstruction of Alameda Street, stretching from Airline Road to Everhart Road.

  • Final Traffic Switch Set for Everhart Road and SPID Intersection

    As construction crews near the completion of water line improvements at the intersection of South Padre Island Drive (SPID) and Everhart Road, they will implement a switch in lane closures in the area. Beginning Thursday, February 5, at 7:00 p.m., construction crews will remove current traffic restrictions and set up new traffic control plans in the area. Workers will be on-site until approximately 6:00 a.m. Friday, February 6.

  • Intersection at Betty Jean Drive and Cain Drive Closed for Utility Repair

    Beginning on Wednesday, February 4, and continuing through Tuesday, February 17, the intersection at Betty Jean Drive and Cain Drive will be closed to facilitate repairs to a sewer line.

  • Poth Lane Road Closure for Water Line Installation

    Beginning on Monday, February 2, and continuing for two months, Poth Lane will be closed to all traffic between Gibson Street and Buddy Lawrence Drive.

  • Temporary Closure on Everhart Road

    Due to the recent freezing temperatures, the scheduled closure of the southbound lanes of Everhart Road from Staples Street to Whataburger Way has been rescheduled to begin on Thursday, January 29, from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. This closure is necessary to facilitate repairs to an area on the concrete surface, ensuring the road remains safe and in good condition for all users.

This is accomplished by maintaining street pavement; operating and maintaining traffic signals, signs and markings, planning and developing the street system; and providing storm water management services.
