In a city-wide effort to stay ahead of vandalism, the City’s Solid Waste Services Graffiti Cleanup Crew successfully tackled 1,667 locations in 2025, sometimes before the paint was even dry. Statistics show that 90 percent of their work was completed proactively by the Graffiti Cleanup Crew, erasing graffiti before a single public report was filed.

Corpus Christi Water (CCW) announced today that the O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant (ONSWTP) was formally recognized by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for meeting the strict criteria of the Texas Optimization Program (TOP) for 12 consecutive months.

At today’s regularly scheduled Corpus Christi City Council meeting, the City Council approved the designation and creation of Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Number Seven (TIRZ 7) to support planned development and infrastructure improvements in the growing London area.

The City Council approved a 30-year agreement to supply recycled water from the Greenwood Wastewater Treatment Plant to Valero Refining-Texas, L.P.

Construction upgrades at Washington Coles Park are currently underway. They will necessitate temporary road closures in the area to ensure the safety of all residents, commuters, and construction workers.

Ongoing work will require a lane closure on Yorktown Boulevard near Sun Valley Drive. Beginning Wednesday, January 14, crews will close the outside northbound lane. The closure is expected to last through Monday, January 26.

A major sidewalk construction project has begun on Winnebago Street to improve pedestrian accessibility and safety. The project is expected to take three months to complete and will provide ease of access between the new Dr. H.J. Williams Park and the new TC Ayers Park.

According to the Daily Reservoir and Pass-Thru Status Report dated January 12, 2026, the combined capacity of Choke Canyon Reservoir and Lake Corpus Christi has reached 10%, marking the lowest level these reservoirs have experienced in their history.

Southbound Everhart Road between South Padre Island Drive and McArdle Road will close for concrete work on Tuesday, January 13, between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
