Ongoing work will require street closure on South Shoreline Boulevard at Cooper’s Alley beginning Monday, January 12. Kinney Street at South Shoreline Boulevard will also be closed. Cooper’s Alley will remain accessible via southbound travel on Shoreline Boulevard. Traffic on Kinney Street may detour through the Water’s Edge Park parking lot.

The Corpus Christi Public Works Department will begin replacing decorative crosswalks at the Six Points intersection and on Shoreline Drive to comply with updated state mandates. The work will start on Monday, January 12.

AEP will begin an Improvement Project on Ocean Drive between Ocean View Place and Aberdeen Avenue at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, January 12.

The City will kick off its first Litter Critter community cleanup of the year on Saturday, January 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., beginning at the 14800 Block of Whitecap Boulevard on Padre Island.

A strong cold front moved into the area overnight. The National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures tonight in the low 40s, with wind chills expected to drop below 40 degrees by early Tuesday morning.

The Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD), alongside the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD), is reminding residents that fireworks are not allowed within Corpus Christi city limits, including all beach areas.

The loud noises and displays of holiday fireworks can be very distressing for pets, leading to significant stress and anxiety. Animals possess acute senses, making them particularly sensitive to loud sounds. This fear may result in destructive behavior, attempts to escape, or even injury.

The City of Corpus Christi is preparing for the Inaugural Corpus Christi TX (CCTX) Marathon Weekend on Saturday, December 27, and Sunday, December 28. Over 1,300 runners and hundreds of spectators will participate in the two-day event. The event is drawing runners from throughout the United States. The 26.2-mile CCTX Marathon is also listed as a Boston Marathon qualifying race.

A small section of Glenoak Drive near Waldron Road will be closed to traffic from Monday, December 29, through Friday, January 2, for utility work. Access to homes will remain available via alternate neighborhood routes.
